Divorce in Mexico
We assist foreign nationals with administrative divorce proceedings in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. This is the fastest and simplest way to legally dissolve a marriage in Mexico. Our team handles the paperwork, coordinates the process with the Civil Registry, and guides you through every step until the divorce is officially completed.
Our service is based on the administrative divorce procedure in the state of Quintana Roo (Cancun). Therefore, your marriage must have been registered in Quintana Roo or the marriage record must have been transferred to the Civil Registry of Quintana Roo.
Administrative divorce is the simplest and fastest way to legally dissolve a marriage in Mexico. To qualify, both spouses must:
- Mutually agree to the divorce;
- Have no minor children;
- Have reached a mutual agreement on all aspects of the divorce.
Before the divorce can be finalized, the wife must undergo a pregnancy blood test, as required by Mexican law.
If the marriage was registered under the Sociedad Conyugal (community property) regime, a notarized agreement confirming that both spouses have settled all property matters between them is also required.
Our service includes:
- Preparation and completion of all required forms;
- Obtaining all necessary Civil Registry extracts;
- On-site pregnancy blood test for the wife (the laboratory visits your hotel, and the certified results are delivered directly to the judge);
- Payment of all government fees, federal and municipal taxes, and the judge’s fees;
- English-language assistance throughout the entire process;
- Courier services within Mexico.
If required, the notarized property settlement agreement is arranged separately at an additional cost.
The standard processing time for an administrative divorce in Quintana Roo is 5-7 business days after the application is submitted. The personal presence of both spouses is required.
Upon completion, both former spouses receive official divorce certificates (long-form and short-form versions). If the documents are intended for use abroad, we can also arrange apostille legalization.
An express one-day divorce option is also available.
If you are unable to travel to Mexico, we can also arrange an official divorce without the personal presence of either spouse.
